Alvalyn Lundgren

Award-winning illustrative designer, Alvalyn Lundgren, works with high profile companies and around-the-corner businesses allike. She began her career as an illustrator after graduating from Art Center College of Design in 1981. In 1994, after a series of freelance projects and arts education positions, she launched Alvalyn Creative, a design and illustration firm located in Newbury Park, CA, specializing in identity, print, web, photography and—of course—illustration. Her clients include Southern California Edison, the City of Los Angeles and a variety of small and mid-size companies and businesses.
Her interest in art showed up early in her life. Drawing and painting throughout her childhood, she excelled in story-telling and draftsmanship. By her sophomore year in high school she determined that she wanted to pursue art as a career. She enrolled at California State University, Northridge as an art major and completed her junior year there before applying to Art Center, where she majored in illustration.
Alvalyn has extensive experience in publication and print design but her primary bent is toward identity and branding. That is where she gets to use more of her illustration training, relying heavily on her drawing skills to develop a project. Alvalyn has a strong eye for aesthetic principles which she incorporates with functionality and purpose to create successful design.
An adjunct professor at UCLA Extension, Alvalyn has been teaching courses in color theory and design for over 12 years.
A second-generation native Californian, Alvalyn has a grown daughter currently serving in the U. S. Marine Corps and two Australian Shepherds which keep her company in her studio. She has traveled to every state in the U.S. and extensively throughout Canada.
